Veedersburg -- Mrs. Daisy Newnum, 68, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Russell Mears, in Veedersburg after a days' illness. She was taken suddenly ill Monday. Born Aug 13, 1883, in Yeddo, Mrs. Newnum was the daughter of John and Ollie Keeling Smith. She was married to Harvey Newnum, who survives together with 4 daughters and one son. The daughters are Mrs. James Brammer of MIlford, Ill; Mrs. Lloyd Abernathy of Covington; Mrs. Mears at whose home she died, and Miss Katherine Newnum, of Veedersburg. The son, Harvey Newnum Jr. also resides in Veedersburg. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Harvey Kelly of Mahomet, Ill; a half sister, Mrs. Ruby Grady of Yeddo and her stepmother, Mrs. Stella Smith of Yeddo. Funeral services will be held at Fishero Funeral Home Veedersburg at 10;30 a.m. Thursday in charge of Rev. Bennett Fulp, pastor of the First Evangelical United Brethren Church in Crawfordsville. Burial will be in Centennial Cemetery.

Daisy Smith Newnum, elder daughter of John and Ollie Keeling Smith was born Aug 13, 1888. She attended the Yeddo grade school and in early life became a member of the Centennial United Brethren Church.  In 1905 she was married to Harvey H. Newnum who survives in addition to four daughters and one son, Mrs. James Brammar, Milford, Ill; Mrs. Lloyd B. Abernathy of Covington; Mrs. Russell Mears of Veedersburg; Miss Kathryn Newnum and the son Harvey Newnum Jr. also of Veedersburg. Other survivors include a sister, Mrs. Henry Kelley of Mahomet, Ill; a half sister, Mrs. Ruby Grady and the stepmother Mrs. Sarah Smith both of Yeddo. One son, Glenwood, preceded her in death on Sept 19, 1940. Funeral services were held from the Fishero Funeral Home Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. conducted by Rev. Bennett Fulp of Crawfordsville, with burial in Centennial cemetery. – kbz

Mrs. Daisy Newnum, 68 years old, a native and long time resident of Yeddo, died suddenly Tuesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Russell Meers of Veedersburg after an illness of only a few hours.  She was born on Aug 13, 1883, the daughter of John and Ollie Keeling Smith of Yeddo. She was married to Harvey Newnum who survives in addition to four daughters: Mrs. James Brammer of Milford; Mrs. Lloyd Abernathy of Covington; Mrs. Laveda Meers of Veedersburg and Miss Katherine Newnum of Veedersburg; the stepmother, Mrs. Sarah Smith of Yeddo; a son, Harvey, Jr. of Veedersburg; a sister, Mrs. Henry Kelly of Mahomet, Ill and a half-sister, Mrs. Ruby Grady of Yeddo.  Funeral services were held at the Fishero Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Thursday conducted by Rev. Bennett Fulp of Crawfordsville with burial in the Centennial cemetery. – kbz
